First things first, this works.
If what you want is a free portable utility that removes malware, toolbars, PUP (Potentially Unwanted Programs), adware, hijackers, crapware and all the hidden tentacles so many things seem to leave behind, look no further – you’ve found the answer to your problems.
At first, I wondered if it was working. It’s definitely working. And this thing is fast.
It did speed up the boot-up time by 20% and application start times were shorter. According to the task manager, Standard CPU usage dropped by 1-2% on average (doesn’t sound like much but it is typically floating around 11% on idle) and the Physical Memory dropped slightly. The important thing is not necessarily the slight performance tweak, but what it removed was junk and stuff that everything else missed. improving overall performance.
There’s the occasional false positive so make sure you give a careful eyeball to the results and “uncheck elements you want to keep” but AdwCleaner is a handy tool to have in the arsenal and one I’d recommend to anyone experiencing performance issues.
